ITK Learning Beyond Borders

Learning Beyond Borders: SRM University Students Explore AI for a Sustainable Future in Malaysia

Between October 26 and November 2, 2025, ITK Education Services Pvt. Ltd. successfully organized an International Immersive Study Tour Program in Malaysia, themed around “AI for a Sustainable Future: Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.”

A group of 31 bright students from SRM University, India, embarked on this academic journey that blended technology, innovation, and global exposure — truly reflecting ITK’s commitment to Learning Beyond Classrooms and Borders.

The Academic Immersion at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)

The first leg of the program took place at the prestigious Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), one of the top research universities in Southeast Asia.

Over three intensive days, students participated in a hands-on bootcamp on Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, led by experienced faculty and researchers. The sessions explored how artificial intelligence can drive sustainability and innovation, encouraging students to develop creative solutions for real-world challenges.

Industry Visits: Bridging Learning and Practice

To complement their academic learning, students had the unique opportunity to visit two of Malaysia’s most prominent innovation hubs.

🏢 MIMOS Berhad

Students visited MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia’s national applied research and development centre under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), and wholly owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated.

Here, students attended keynote sessions by senior researchers, gaining insights into MIMOS’s pivotal role in national innovation, technology policy, and digital transformation. They also witnessed firsthand the cutting-edge R&D activities driving Malaysia’s progress in AI, IoT, and Smart Nation initiatives.

🏭 SHRDC / Malaysia Smart Factory 4.0

At the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre (SHRDC) — Malaysia Smart Factory 4.0 — students experienced live demonstrations of advanced automation, robotics, and cobotics. The visit provided practical exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies and manufacturing innovation frameworks, helping them understand the synergy between academia and industry.

AI Project Presentations and Jury Interaction

Armed with newfound knowledge and industry insights, students worked in teams to build their AI applications and pitch decks. These were presented before a distinguished jury comprising:

  • SRMIST Faculty Members

  • Dr. Kalaivani, Associate Professor, UKM

  • Dr. Joseph Manickaraj M, ITK Education Services

The project presentations were met with enthusiasm and appreciation. The jury offered valuable guidance to help students further refine their research ideas and continue developing their prototypes beyond the program.

At the end of the academic component, students received Certificates of Appreciation in recognition of their efforts, creativity, and active participation.

Exploring Malaysia: A Cultural and Experiential Journey

After four days of academic and industrial engagement, the students were treated to a well-curated cultural and leisure experience across Malaysia. The itinerary included visits to iconic destinations such as:

  • Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Building

  • Times Square and Pavilion Mall

  • Chinatown and Old Market

  • Genting Highlands

  • Independence Square

  • Belice Chocolate Factory and Geneve Watch Factory

Students enjoyed comfortable accommodations, great food, and the warm hospitality Malaysia is known for — making the tour not only educational but truly memorable.

Forging Academic Partnerships and Global Pathways

For ITK, this visit also opened doors for academic dialogues with two leading institutions — Taylor’s University and the University of Malaya. These meetings laid the foundation for potential collaborative programs, faculty exchange, and research-driven mobility initiatives in the near future.

Continuing the Journey of Global Learning

The Malaysia Immersive Study Tour reaffirmed ITK’s vision of preparing students for a rapidly evolving global landscape. By integrating international exposure, hands-on learning, and cross-cultural understanding, ITK continues to empower students with skills, insights, and perspectives that go beyond classrooms and borders.

As we gear up for the next season of academic engagements, ITK remains dedicated to its mission — skilling, connecting, and transforming students through meaningful global education experiences.
